Names and maturity

I modified my dharma name generated by Ngawang Tenzin Tashi Wangmo Gyaltsen Palden Ngodrup Tsering Pema Lhamo, alias Limp Budgie of Mellowness, also known as Franca, The Important One with the Big Clever Brain... I added 'Mature" in front of "stapler of fulsome absenteeism". Why did I add it? Because I've had trouble from the beginning filling in the profile information for this community. Under "practice level," I should select "mature" since I've been practicing for well over 5 years -- even… Continue

I love your artwork. It's mature, and obviously comes from a mature place in the artist.

If the bank balance was a bit more mature...

I had trouble with that one too. Definitely more mature than after I had meditated for 5 years. But definitely a whole lot more maturing to do, ie somewhat/ heaps less that realised. I suggested semi-matured. Franca, you know the limp budgie person, suggested half-baked.

I'm off to get a new dharma name now!

Yes, because "experienced" just indicates that I've done something, spent time with it, etc. But "mature" seems to imply a state of accomplishment, which I don't feel I have.

Yeah, Leslie, I had trouble discerning between "experienced" and "mature" also. If you count from the first time I sat down to meditate, that would be more than 25 years ago. Then I had guidance from a teacher by snail mail for about five years. Then I practiced with a real face-to-face teacher for six years. Then six more years with no teacher at all. Maybe this zigzag path suggests "immaturity." In any case the "M" word made me uneasy. I'm quite comfortable with "experienced."

It's called CREA, short for "Creativity Europeana Association". About 200 people from all over, mostly Europe but lots from America and elsewhere. I'm Canadian, not at all Italian by heritage but very much so by inclination; my name is pure coincidence or perhaps serendipitous proof that I was switched at birth out of an Italian family.

Hello Leslie....how do you come to be based in Milan? I was just there last week; I go to Italy every year for a conference in Sestri Levante.
