What's so special about Tibetan Buddhism for me? I am finding that there is an honesty, a "no frills" approach to this western way of Buddhism for me. The sense that it is in reach to: "bring my practice into my life", brings a huge sense of rest ...
I am touched by the response that this discussion has brought about. I am in a situation, where I came to this practice about a year ago. (How times flies!). And I still consider myself as a real learner.
But, as I was saying, I am in a my second...
I am not sure, but, could compassion be an emotional state when one attaches ones-self to the act of compassion? When it's compassion with no attachment of ones-self, (as in not wanting to benefit in the outcome), then it's not an emotional state?...
"rough and tumble of daily life".... sounds like a great session to be involved in!!! Sadly can't be there but I do hope that you pod it, for those of us far away.
I am a mother , and married to a farmer. We live on our farm, and i contribute with the day to day farming activities. My children are away at uni and studying.
I have always had a searching soul and in my wonderings, came across the unfettered mind web site, and a whole new world of podcasts opened up. My interest in Buddhism increased, and the feeling of seperation from people with the same belief, decreased. So i continue to download and listen to all talks from ken , and continue to practice as best as i can with the guidelines from kens talks.

Hi Tracy,
I have spoken with Ann today about the photo/video coordination duo idea. Could you send me your email so we can communicate about this offline?
Thanks,
Roger
Tracy,
Thanks for participating in the on-line discussion of Langri Thangpa's "Eight Verses for Training the Mind". We're closing this discussion with a summary, and I invite you to post your thoughts.

Tracy,
What a nice message you are sending. Thanks! I came to this site by being a student of Ken's for quite a long while. Ken is such a wonderful teacher and I am thrilled by his internet teaching techniques and podcasts. He is reaching so many more beings in this way. I listen to his lectures, workshops and retreats as I walk about in the local foothills of San Bernadino mountains, while gardening, taking care of the home, and whenever the mood strikes me.
I lived in New Zealand (Whangarei) for a couple of years and feel very blessed for that experience. You live in a beautiful country. Did you have a previous interest in Buddhism? Are there other in your area interested in this practice?
HI Tracey,
I am going to be in Rotorua between Dec 26th and Jan 4th doing a house sit. Not sure how far that is from where you are. Glad you got the verse. Will not be on my computer after Thurs this week. Sig
