About Me:
I find Ken's translations very helpful, and I am still working my way through the podcasts and "Wake up to Your Life," so it will be a long time before I am ready to comment on anything current. Because there are no Dharma centers within 100 miles, and I cannot really travel, the podcasts are useful to me. Also, one of the best things I have found so far has been the discussion at the website of the secret level of refuge. Although I have refuge vows (April 16, 2000), reading the presentation of the secret level of the Three Jewels was the first time I understood them as something I could really trust in as a refuge. I find no refuge in the other levels, although I am happy for those who can work with the other levels.
Concerning my situation, I live with my partner, his sister, a friend, and a semi-adopted elderly neighbor on 38 acres in rural Northern New Mexico. I do half of the cooking, manage the humanure system, and I and my sister-in-law milk the goats (when they are in season). We share the land with 37 chickens, 7 dogs, 4 cats, 4 goats (plus four of their kids, for a while), and countless others, such as coyotes, rattle snakes, tarantulas, elk and who knows what else.
Concerning the photo, the long beard makes me look quite a lot like Santa Claus, which is not too bad. I have a niece who loved me for that. However, I was single at that time. Now that I am partnered, I keep the beard trimmed, as he is not interested in being married to Santa Claus.
