A core element of Buddhist practice in every tradition is the interaction between practitioner and teacher, in which questions about the practice, teaching, or how to find one's way in life are explored. In this interaction, the two minds meet, an...

Ken, Thanks for posting this lecture. The historical perspective is fascinating, how Buddhism spread and changed as it met new populations. I could see how this relates to the Unfettered Mind mission and the participants of the organization. As i...

Buddhism and Science

While I'm usually wary of linking Buddhism and science, an op-ed piece by David Brooks in today's NY Times describes an interesting convergence, in which Buddhism and science challenge the notion of a personal god and associated claims to divine revelation, etc.

Releasing, healing, and awareness

When you've gone through a difficult period, when you sit down to practice, make your intention to experience what is arising in you. If you hold on to even a little bit of the intention to release the energy or the emotion, you will find yourself struggling in practice. It really comes down to sitting in the whole mess and not trying to change or do anything with it. This is hard, subtle and important.

As you continue to practice, release may take place with the arising. Again, however, don't… Continue

Hi Ken,

I am a great fan of your book. It's been revelatory.

However, despite the best of intentions, I am finding a number of difficulties interfering with my journey to an unfettered mind (an over-analytical mind being just one of them. To that end, I was wondering whether you might be able to point me in the right direction of a teacher from whom I might seek guidance.

Thanks,
Kyle

I'm responding to your mail about a Buddhist magazine seeking an article about the UM website. I write for a living, I've written about the Internet, and I want to start writing about Buddhism. I can do this and I would enjoy the task.
cheers

Hello Ken, In Then and Now session 7 you say: "in the book I’m currently reading it describes four kinds of questions from the point of view of Buddhism. There are those questions which can be given a straightforward answer; there are those questions that need to be reframed. There are those questions that can best be answered by a question and there are those questions that are not helpful to pursue

What is the title of the book?

What are some of the ways a student can work with projections that develop in the student teacher relationship?

Does the path of devotion often bring up projections in the student teacher relationship?

Most teachers still have some work to do in their own paths. How can the student and teacher deal with this in the path of devotion?

I shall. Maybe I'll update that one linre about myself too.

I am living my life (awareness/the practice) at the extremes it seems. I am amazed at what the mind is capable of producting. What's next I don't know.

Be well friend.

Hi Ken
This morning I got the email about the Mind Training forum. I was just about to start a forum on the Bodhisattva Vow and Generosity - but I see now I have no need to, as that will be no doubt discussed in depth in the first of the eight verses. Fabulous! I love it when that happens!

I await with interest.
