Aloha Greg,
If this is Dzogchen (or Mahamudra) practice your are engaged in then you are perhaps pointing at Integration of all things, sights, sounds, sensations, thoughts with Presence in Awareness, Rigpa. Being without concepts everything is exp…
Trevor, regarding my statement that Buddhism is not a religion, I did a Google search under 'define religion' and the first definition I found was this;
"a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny"
In Buddhism the…
Re; What does “right action” mean to you in practice?
Let's KISS (keep it simple simple)
Buddhism is not a religion.
Buddhism is a spiritual practice of awareness of the Nature of The (Our) Mind and has various considerations that differ yet are t…
In my previous post I used the word 'Authentic' to distinguish those masters from the so called teachers or so called masters or so called Rinpoches and their communities. It's a process like separating the wheat from the chaff, and it takes skill t…
I've been watching this discussion to see where it goes. So far, nowhere.
Of course "This practice eliminates so much that is human-emotional connection...'
It's profound, gone beyond awareness of Self.
Remember the story of the blind describing a…
We, being committed to achieving our fully enlightened state as Buddhas have an obligation to observe our selves first, foremost and last. Pointing out another's faults while having the proverbial cinder in our own eye is losing sight of our commitm…
"It's getting hard to be someone "
Maybe some of you old timers remember this and can hum along. I did not get it when I was a young guy in the 60's but now it's making sense. Ah those so cool Brit Boddhisattvas!

For people interested in current teaching by a Tibetan master on Dzogchen;

In Dzogchen we go to the teacher and if we decide he or she is authentic vs. half baked we decide to continue. During this retreat the explanations of Dzogchen are elucidated and at some point the master will say, now let us practice. This is…
My sense of this stanza is;
Longchempa Rinpoche, the foremost practitioner of Dzogchen, was beyond looking for 'Pure and Total Presence', he was accomplished and utterly stable in this state.
The "vast expanse without center or border" refers to t…
My sense of the phrase "twilight of a meaningless life" is Lonchenpa is done with promoting himself, saying in any way he his life is in any way special....he simply 'Is'. Twilight can mean end of this human incarnation...also ending of giving any s…
Wonderful topic for discussion.
Longchempa's 'Advice' puts me to mind of Patrul Rinpoche (1808-1887) and his
'Advice from Me to Myself"...I keep a copy of this always at hand. (See some quoted

I see the tittle of this discussion is 'Dzogchen and Social Anxiety'. However in the many replies I do not see any discussion or reference to Dzogchen, only to 'Anxiety. My question of course is why was Dzogchen used in the question an…
Regarding the comment "Vowing to remain in Samsara as long as sentient beings remain. That one can propel you through so much but at the same time Samsara is horrific and never-ending so it is also pretty scary. A great equalizer."
Perhaps consider…
It rather depends on what he is pointing out and if he knoews what he is speaking about. The term Pointing Out seems very vague...is it the way to the bathroom, the art of Martini, the Nature if the Mind....
Maybe the image of the Martini in the for…
Regarding vows, are there not fetters for the mind? Taking vows may be useful for some, and at the core of the path of Sutra...they can run into the hundreds and are designed to free the practitioner from any and all tempetaions or wong actions.

In 1987 I discovered what I was long long searching for...Dzogchen! And the master, Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche!...what a amazing treasure teacher. His teaching is so clear, deep and effective transmission.
Dzogchen ain't easy, not for this one at least...attempting to grasp the concept, then the state of calm abiding...then no thought, plain awareness, even for a few moments...the experience, build on that....excruciating...years and years but gradually something seems to develop. O La La! Integration....stay with the practice...dream yoga, invaluable.
Also I am in support of the development of Tibetan medicine in the west. There are some qualified Tibetan doctors in USA who cannot find employment, start clinics, etc...hopefully this
Now I live quietly in rural Kohala, Island of Hawaii...teach some Tai Chi I learned from my master Cheng Man-ching....read a lot, hang out at the local coffee shop, talk story w/ friends. Exciting, huh?
