It sounds like very good advice.I enjoying your dialogue Greg and Bill it's wonderful. Can you say more about " kleshas"...or direct me to an explanation of this term. Thanks!

Indeed Bill, I think that your post is a segue into the second of the two verses. Act from emptiness knowing the effects of your actions. When you understand not doing, observe the three vows. With non-referential compassion work to help beings ...

what are these kleshas that need trimming? If seen for what they are, is there paring that needs be done? Kleshas are like storms in the body. And like meterological storms, we can't pare them, but with appropriate refuge we needn't be harmed by ...

And feel its sweet edge. Very nice. I like the allusion to sharp edges, licking the razor. As much as we pare away klesha, what are these kleshas that need trimming? If seen for what they are, is there paring that needs be done? So, knowing there...

Hi Bill,

I'm a newly hatched psychologist -- I just got licensed about a year ago and I'm working in private practice. I like the midwest, but I'm not sure how long I will be here in Missouri -- we may move soon, based on whether my wife gets hired elsewhere.

Thanks again for the thread, and good to be in touch with you.

I am delighted to read your writing / replies on longchenpa/ dzogchen. Since I have been mainly a kagyupa practitioner for nearly 20 years, it would take a while for me to grasp them and compare with our MahaMudra, before I write some comment.
But surely I will, for the time being , just Hi and Cheers.

Bill,

I commend you for your effort facilitating the discussion on Geshe Langri's 8 Verses. It has been a joy to be a part of the discussion. As for the joy, engaging you and other participants around this topic is its source. For that I am grateful.

Some parting words on the topic will be forthcoming. All the best

The discussions that i have followed on the Eight verses, i have found to be amazing. This forum is a completely new form of communication for me, the honesty and frankness of the commments were always so fresh to read! I have not always followed the thread as intensly as others, so was finding i would have to go back and pick it up. But the fact that the site allows me to do this, means that i "feel" involved, I shall endevour to be slightly bolder in the next topic of discussion!

Great stuff.

Bill, I don't know it is useful to others -- or if it would prove a distraction -- to draw attention to the resources from Ken's Mind Training URL in the course of the Geshe Langri Mind Training discussions. There is no direct parallel between the verses, but there are some rich and important similarities. Ken's translation and commentary are amazingly valuable. It is possible that many people on the Ning site may not be aware of Ken's other Mind Training website.

Thanks for the great postings on the Eight Verses. I'm finding the discussions so rewarding.

Hi Bill!
I've just joined and today rec'd an email announcement from Ken about The Mind Training Forum you will be leading. I was checking the links he posted on reading material and this one http://www.buddhadharma.org/EightVerses/Here.
has a slight glitch...can't get to it. But i visited the site and it works fine w/o the "here" on the end. Go figure!
I posted this on the blog, hope that was alright, and i just wanted to mention it to you personally. It also gives me an opportunity to connect and say i'm looking forward to the forum discussion. It's just what the doctor ordered.

Bye for now.
Lizzie
