Welcome!
This community is a work in progress, and we're all discovering its capabilities as we go. There is no right way to use it: merely an invitation to try it out and learn ways to interact with like-minded people, talk about practice points, and engage in related discussions. Click HERE for more about the intention behind this site and about Ning, the free social networking service we are using.
If you haven't already already signed up as a member, consider doing so. This gives you access to much more on this site, and allows interaction with other members via forum discussions, blogging, and posting comments. You do not have to reveal your real-world identity or email address to the Unfettered Mind community (unless you want to); your email address is used as a sign-in but is kept completely private by ning.com.
Post a picture
It doesn't have to be of you, it can simply be a visual that allows people to easily distinguish you from others. (If you don't have a picture yet, the default graphic is the elephant in the sunset.)
Invite people to be your "friend"
All social networks depend on connecting with people who know people who know people, etc.. If you know someone on the network, or would like to get to know them better, make them a "friend" by clicking on their name or picture, and then click the "Add as friend" link under their picture. An advantage of becoming friends is that you can send private messages to one another (see Messaging). If you'd like to get to know someone better, consider inviting them to Skype with you.
Messaging
In order to send private messages to someone on the network, he or she needs to be a "friend". You can send a friend request to anyoned by clicking on their picture and sending the request. (See above.
Finding Your Way

Click on VIEW ALL under the Forum area or on the FORUM tab for a map that will help you navigate the wide variety of topics available. Click on VIEW DISCUSSIONS to see all the topics under a particular category. You can also use the search function at the very top right of every page to search the site for particular key words or phrases.

Use the Blog available through your personal page for personal reflection and for making arrangements with others (e.g. retreat transport). Use the Forum to initiate or participate in discussion. When starting a new Forum topic, please make sure to assign your posting to one of the categories. If none seem to fit and you feel adding a new category is justified, leave a message about this on The Barometer page. Visit the wiki, the book recommendation list and Ken's Blog. Links to these can be found at the top left of the main page.

Use the RSS links
This is "geek speak" for automatic notification of new items and changes. If you see a little orange rectangle that says "RSS", it means you can create a toolbar or menu link on your browser that will show changes to that page. Hard to explain: try clicking the "RSS" on the main page and see what happens. Then you'll understand. If a discussion interests you, follow it. Forum discussions include a link on the bottom that says "Follow this discussion". If you're signed in and you click it, you'll be alerted by email whenever something is added to the discussion.
