Unfettered Mind

(I am sure this is discussed in WUTYL but I did not see it and have not finished it yet)

I noticed that different styles of Buddhism suggest different things when you sit (the quiet non guided 25 minutes sitting)...so, in Unfettered Mind sitting....

As an aside, I happened to (listen to) WUTYL chapter 3, Cultivating Attention, which directly addressed how to sit, breath, mind...

So, I am going to try starting tomorrow three changes.
1) start at 10 am every day instead of 'when I get to it'
2) keep my eyes open instead of closed
3) go from 20 minutes to 30 minutes

Wish me luck (or send me some metta, or whatever is appropriate) :)

I wish you well as you embark on these changes in your practice. May you have clarity, deep experiences, or whatever is appropriate, Dan.

Not that I have any special weight with the powers that be, but those are my wishes.

Hi Dan,
You might want to check out the CD version of the Dalai Lama's book "How to see yourself as you really are". There are some verysound meditation and breathing instructions ... easy to follow. You can likely borrow th CD set from your local library.
The recommended time to sit is 30 minutes as it often takes 15 to 20 minutes to settle.
All the best

Honor to all traditions and those with the heart and mind of love.

I feel like I personalized your discussion Dan, did not intentionally do that, doing some healing and growing of my own.

If you want you could seek out a Vajrayana Master and ask them for pointing out instructions. [I wish someone had told me that earlier in my life but... karma.]
